Overview:
This module coincides with the 3D Asset Design Module, for which we have been allowed to chosen a main theme and a subtheme from the categories bellow. Once I have decided on my themes, they will be used to influence my 3D asset and act as a centre piece for my environment.
Main Themes:
- Horror
- Science Fiction
- Fantasy
- Historical
Sub-themes:
- Alien
- Corruption
- Utopia
- Dystopia
- Celebration
- Decay
- Family
- Beauty
Taking those themes and sub-themes I concepted together 4 main ideas that I would like to look at in more detail before moving on to create the my environment.
For each of the 4 ideas, I decided to explore, I looked at some concept images on Pinterest of games, films and other media that I would be able to draw ideas from.
Historical + Decay

Fantasy + Utopia

I can then refer back to come of these images when creating my concepts and starting to build up my environment and 3D Asset. the environment I create will share the same theme as my asset and will feature what i create as a main focal point within my video and beauty shots.
Moodboards:
With the research I conducted with some early concepting and the use of Pinterest. then decided to create some moodboards to see the different ways I could take each of my 4 created theme ideas. I wanted to include concept art, video games and film as well as book illustrations within these moodboards to draw inspiration for my environment from a variety of different sources.
all of these concepts and ideas I have drawn together link with similar concepts I have gathered for my 3D Asset that will be a focal point within the environment I create.
Historical and Decay:

For my asset I would possibly look Roman or Greek weaponry and how that can be decayed or rusted within an environment, with that in mind I want my environment to follow the same idea.
Fantasy and Corruption:

With corruption and decay having similar meanings they end up mixing with the environment and asset I create, so I wanted to cover a few generic ideas across both for my fantasy theme.
Science Fiction and Dystopia:

With the dystopia subtheme I would like to look at different sort of dark and almost brutal environments like those in dead space, cyberpunk and star wars.
Fantasy and Utopia:

For this I would like to delve deeper into some myths and legends and how they could be replicated in a ‘high fantasy’ style and environment.
