Personal Reflection:

I have enjoyed creating an environment for this module, with the asset design module using the same themes I tried to experiment with a range of ideas in my concepts and moodboards, I explored each theme through different sources of media like games, books and films to help me generate a broad range of ideas. With the theme I chose of Corruption and Fantasy I wanted to look into some myths and legends, specifically the ‘Sword in the Stone’ for my asset, with that in mind I wanted to cover some other legends in my environment.

I knew early on in development I wanted to have a lake within the environment and that I would need to have a building somewhere, I concepted a few top down examples as to how I could layout my scene with my chosen theme setting the tone.

I am happy with what I have managed to create, however I feel that if I were to continue with the project there where a few things that I could possible add to push the project up to the next level.

  • Interior Space – The brief stated that I must have a building within my environment and it is something that I questioned for a while as to what building would work to help tell the story of the environment. I had concepts for creating a castle (Camelot or Tintagel Castle) as a way of linking the sword to King Arthur. I eventually settled on a derelict wizards tower but I feel that it could have benefitted from an interior room that was covered in vines and forgotten, but it would help to further the story I am trying to tell.
  • Wider world – There is one part of my video where you can catch a glimpse of the edge of my environment, where it drops into the skybox. Maybe if I were to Carry on I could make the world bigger and include parts of a forgotten kingdom with ruined castle walls and a forgotten town. I could have also looked into adding higher mountains to give the environment some depth.
